Dr. Deepika Ganju Gunawant

Dr. Deepika has received her Graduate degree from Kolkata University (India) in 1985 and thereafter, her MD in Ayurveda in 1990 from the same University.

She has rich and knowledgable experiences specializing in Ayurveda, with more than three decades ranging from clinical, teaching, operations, marketing and regulatory research.

She has previously worked for Dabur for nearly five years before moving to UK in 1995. While in London, she’s also worked in several positions as a Marketing Director and Chief Physician with the Ayurvedic Company of Great Britain and the Ayurvedic Charitable Hospital in Central  London.

In 2004, Dr. Deepika rejoined Dabur as Head of the Global Regulatory affairs and Business Development in UK and she eventually relocated back to India in 2007 with the same position.  Dr. Deepika later worked as a Consultant with AYUSH from July 2009  to December 2010.

A brief timeline of Dr. Deepika’s expertise experiences:

From April 2011 to October 2015, Dr. Deepika was the Medical Director at Max Ventures and she also later on became the Head of Integrative Health and Well being. She was responsible for setting up three key ventures:

 1) Vana retreat within the wellness department.

 2) Therapiya, which was a Centre for Integrative Medicine and ancient healing traditions in New Delhi.

 3) Vanaveda, which is a product conception for formulation and development based on the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda with organic and eco certified ingredients.

Dr. Deepika is still highly associated with the prestige Quality Council of India  (NABCB and NABH) as an expert, and has advised on various Ayush projects from 2009.

During her time in the United Kingdom, Dr. Deepika has worked as an Associate lecturer in Thames Valley University in London for an Ayurvedic Degree course.

She has also worked as an Honorary Consultant with MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency, UK) and was nominated twice as a member of the working group formed under Department Of Health for statutory regulation of Herbal (Ayurvedic) professionals (HMRWG).

In addition, Dr. Deepika has had extensive lecturing experience and conducted programs in Europe on various Ayurveda subjects. She was also invited for workshops by WHO, as an expert for setting up guidelines on Ayurveda courses.

In Brescia, Italy, Dr. Deepika was responsible for initiating two clinical trials on Hepatitis B and High Cholesterol using Ayurvedic drugs .

She has a number of International articles  to her credit and is the co-author of the book entitled “Complete Illustrated guide to Ayurveda “ published in the UK by Element books and is available in over 500 libraries the world over.

Lastly, Dr. Deepika is the Founder President of British Association of Accredited Ayurvedic Practitioners (BAAAP) in the UK and Founder Member of Central Italian Institute of Oriental Medicine (CISMO).

She was awarded  with “PRANACHARYA” in 2008 by the Ayurveda maha sammellan for her Valuable contributions in  promotion of Ayurveda  globally.

Presently 

Dr. Deepika serves as a Senior Consultant of Ayurveda and Wellness with Max Multi Specialty Centre  at Panchsheel park, New Delhi.

She serves as a valuable consultant to various companies specializing in wellness and new product developments based on traditional Ayurvedic medicine and wisdom.
